Our colleagues Joachim Bjerregaard and Henrik Grönbeck are featured in a newly released press announcement for their groundbreaking work using machine learning to design better catalytic materials that reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from engines. By modeling how copper and ammonia interact inside zeolites, the team uncovered ways to improve the reaction that removes harmful gases—helping engines meet stricter standards like Euro 7. The study, published in Nature Communications, also points to future applications such as turning carbon dioxide into fuel.
